OOC [27 Oct 2003|01:19pm]

[ mood | flat ]

Obviously, this isn't running so efficiently. I've asked around and the vibe seems to be that everybody's a little scared of posting, unsure what to do, how to proceed. The fact that we're on a journal format has stymied a few that were used to email and the fact that we don't comment to personal journals has stymied a few that were used to LJ.

So what do we do? Call it day? Chalk it up to experience? I'm not feeling it. You're not feeling it. Parting is such sweet sorrow...

Please welcome leo_jones to Vodeville. Also, this might be a good chance to check if you've got all communites and denizens added. Check my user info to cross reference. I think I'm up to date.

This is where I drop a kiss for Luca player. (Thank you.)

Just a side note, pigeons dear. You do have to add the communities to your friends lists to see them. So if you've accepted the invitation to join vodeville and vodeville_news, have a peek to see if you've added them to your friends list or not.

The first issue of Vodeville News will be out tonight.

The Places To Go page on the website has been updated with a squillion new places to go.

And a big thanks to Cael for busting his delectable arse on this little world.

The new website is up. I'm still adding places and map grids, but all of the information for how to play the new format of Artifaces is there. Please check out at least the first three links on the right so you can get the logistics of the game. Check it out at http://mobscene.org/artifaces/

More coming this week, but feel free to jump in. We're starting fresh, but you're welcome to keep existing storylines.

If you have an older browser, you will not be able to see the site. I made a decision to code for browsers that parse .css correctly instead of breaking it. The first page will direct you to a page that has links for you to upgrade your browser if necessary.

If you really can't upgrade, I can send the play information in text format. I may also make text only versions of the whole site, but it won't be pretty. Nor is it a priority.

Questions? Comments?

Oh, please also note that Cael's getting a face lift, so don't be too startled when the bass player suddenly looks utterly different.

Changes are afoot.

Please excuse the lull in game play. Our structure is being restructured and our world is being coloured in. Expect plenty of places to play, a loose story arc and a few events to get the creative juices flowing.

Without the benefit of claiming that our characters are using this online journaling system and would therefore logically get responses to a journal entry, and with the disadvantage of extremely different chat schedules in several countries, our new structure should help us ease into game play and give us a chance to write properly.

For now, if you wouldn't mind writing an intimate entry in your journal that would give the rest of us some insight into who they are, that'd be great. Keep in mind that anything we wouldn't know as characters can't really be used, but we as readers would like to know who "you" are.

The website will have a lot more updates soon, including the exact game structure we'll adopt for this journal, and there will be a few new communities to help game play move along smoothly. I also promise to lead by example for posting, which I haven't done due to my time for the game being eaten up by the website and research.

Check out a few sounds from the hit parade of the day. http://mobscene.org/artifaces/sounds.html

Keep your peepers peeled. And remember, dusty floors mean a mean soft shoe.

Let me know if you have any addition ideas for the website. We've actually been thinking about recruiting recommendations from you in the near future. If you have anyone in mind, feel free to email cael @mobscene.org. I'm not always visible, but I'm usually around, so feel free to hit me up. Really.

We'll be posting some writing prompts now and then to give you some ideas. You can take them or not, but it'd be great to see some of this stuff from a few of you to help the rest of us get an idea of who your character is and how we can approach you.

As AIM is difficult to schedule across oceans and continents, and since most of our own journals are a collection of written ideas, please consider the dahlia_lounge to be open for general conversation. Assume that we're all within ear shot and everyone should assume that comments are for conversation. Asterisk your hearts out if that's your thing, or just have a talk. It's open 24 hours.

The stiller_haus is also set up this way, though not everyone stays there. There's a lounge in there with a kitchen area and a piano and other instruments, so something's always going on and guests are welcome.

And don't forget the_harlequin for your literary kicks and cups of joe from dawn til dusk.

I've had a few people asking me how to go about conversation outside of AIM, and if they should comment or not, so I thought this might help. Remember you can always drop questions to me or any of the mods.

Feel free to post ANY questions here or general OOC comments. They're welcome.

Announcements, etc. are welcome in the Dahlia Lounge, so long as they're relevant IC.

[The website has been updated with a new character page and a links page brimming with style, slang and film pages. We welcome your links submissions for related sites and information. Please check the character page to be sure your information is right and that you have everyone added. We'll try to keep this updated as often as needed while new characters are joining. Comment if you have more information to complete your profiles. We've also got more places listed for you to reference, notably the_harlequin cafe.

Also, please be sure to add a disclaimer to your user info if you haven't already. Something like this: Part of the artifaces RPG. Fake.]

[Hint for those of you who use more than one AIM name. Trillian will allow you to simultaneously connect to more than one AIM name. I just found this out, so I thought it might be helpful to some of you who play, ahem, other games.]

Introduce yourselves at the dahlia_lounge. Just join it and post. You know the drill.

You can see the nearly finished website now. Links are coming soon.

If you need any help or suggestions for suitable pictures, vintage names, slang terms, occupations and businesses we need or might want, let me know.

::We live in a city that doesn't exist in a time that straddles ten plus years of grandeur and style. The idea of a city in Europe called Vaudeville has been suggested and I have to admit, I love it. Love it because it's artifice with false eyelashes and opera gloves. Unless I'm beaten back down about it by you, the voting publick, that's what it'll be. Though perhaps spelt differently.

Two shiny new beauties flanking Mr. Edgar, the eccentric cabaret bassist. I had permission to pinch these icons in exchange for three of my own offerings. I feel I emerged victorious.

Comment with your character journal names, even if nothing's set up, so I can add you glories to the artifaces community. I'm almost done with the website. It's quite nearly ready for its close up, Messers DeMille and DeVine.

Any more suggestions? Any more input?::

Listen up! [26 Aug 2003|11:15pm]

[ mood | super murgatroid ]

Get ready to break it up, cats. We've been busting our conks trying to get this joint up and running and it's just about on the verge. We're painting the set and we'll roll it as soon as possible. In the meantime, tune your instruments, practice your monologues and get your beautiful dry-goods dry cleaned and pressed. There is a dress code.

Remember, there ain't no prohibition here, buddy ghee.

We need musicians, actors, writers, bon vivants, ne'er do wells, business owners, theatre cats and all of that there. Someone's gotta own a sweet shop around here. Me? I'm a bass player and upstart business man, but I'll introduce myself later.

It's somewhere between 1925 and 1935, according to popular consensus. At least we can agree on something around here, so there's a bang up start and I guess we'll never be that late for dinner. If you need help with anything like pictures of your beautiful mugs for the front window, hit me up, leave me a note and we'll get it up and running murderistic. Anybody needs help gettin their boots on should apply within.

Me and the boys'll be over here friskin' the whiskers.
